Interview with Heleen Grooten, Part II: Polyvagal Influence on Voice and Communication


Part II of Mina Roustayi's interview with Heleen Grooten elaborates how we can apply the Polyvagal Perspective to foster speech and communication success in school and in life.  Research shows that excessive stress can temporarily lower our IQ and affect speech circuits in our brains. 

You may be surprised at how basic and humanist Heleen's approach is.  Among the many symptoms discussed is Apraxia, a neurological condition and diagnosis for individuals who want to speak, can make the oral movements to speak, and yet are unable to do so on command.
